Jerde

We worked alongside architects Jerde to design their relocated headquarters in the historic CalEdison Art Deco building. The design was almost entirely comprised of custom elements, from workstations with ample room for laying out drawings to millwork for the material library. In all components and spaces, we focused on emphasizing process and raw materials.

SCAFFOLD SYSTEM / Jerde required ample amounts of clear horizontal surface for laying out drawing sets, so we incorporated vertical storage solutions between workstations. The scaffolding language is a nod to the architecture and construction industries.  I developed a custom system from off-the-shelf parts including steel tube and Kee metal fittings, as well as an index of parts for communicating components to our contractor and millworker.
